If you’re a professional or hobbyist photographer then you should rejoice with this announcement from Google. The search giant has just revealed that it’s making its Nik Collection of desktop photo editing software downloadable for free.
Google acquired the Nik Collection along with Snapseed photo editing app back in September 2012. Within a year, the company sunset the support for Snapseed Desktop and make the Nik Collection ultimately affordable for just $150 from its original price of $500. And don’t look back, now it’s free.
The company aims to focus on its long-term developments of its photo editing tools for mobile such as Google Photos and Snapseed, thus, making the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free.
From March 24th, anyone can download the Nik Collection for free and if ever you’ve purchased it earlier this year, Google will be sending you a full refund. You can download the suite for PC or Mac.
