Japanese gaming giant Nintendo has just announced that it will stop making Wii console for the Japanese market, however will continue its production for international market. The decision pave the way for the next generation Wii as the company aims to focus on its developments and initiate the natural transition to their new models.
The Wii console mainly competes from Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3. Since 2006 from its release, it has sold more than 100 million units globally. Late last year, Nintendo launched the Wii U, apparently it seemed to disappoint actually because of the lack of games available in the market.
There’s a significant annual revenue on console gaming sector which amounts to $44 billion, and so far due to weakening yen the company was able to record $88 million in three months from June through its global sales.
