Android has been on top of the smartphone market in the U.S. taking a significant 53.7-percent share according to ComScore November figures. Looking at the figure chart below, most of the Android devices are still running Gingerbread, however the OS version has already fallen below the 50-percent while the latest Jelly Bean has just broke the 10-percent level.
The data gathering which runs last December 21st up to first week of January shows the Android OS version running devices that access the Google Play Store. Looking on the chart, you’ll see that almost all versions of Android access the store, from oldest to newest.
Gingerbread took 47.6-percent of the total Android version share, notably the percentage drops below 50-percent which it has consistently exceeded for over a year. Followed by Honeycomb with a hair-like share of 1.5-percent. ICS also gathers 29.1-percent along with Jelly Bean which broke from the 10-percent mark with 10.2-percent share.
Expect that Jelly Bean figures will start to climb as newer Android devices will be debuted on this year.
