European regulators have just issued their green light approval to Google for the $12.6 billion purchase of Motorola Mobility, apparently the US Justice Department follows up with their nod for the deal to take place, considering we have the two significant potential blockades giving the search-giant a go-signal, it’s looking more and more likely that the purchase will go through.
However, the deal was something that could threatened the competition when most of the analysts seems to agree that Google might not be just looking for the hardware business but maybe more interested on Motorola’s 17,000 patents and 7,500 patent applications. Fortunately, it seems that the Justice Department doesn’t see the merger as an immediate threat to competition, it did issue a stern warning that it “will not hesitate to take appropriate enforcement action to stop any anti-competitive use of SEP (standard essential patent) rights.”
How do you find Motorola handsets taking all the latest new Android OS flavor updates quickly? Are you in favor with this Google-Motorola merger?
