Play ‘Imperial March’ using Floppy Drives

Do you remember the times when USB drives don’t exist and we all rely on those 3 1/4 floppy drives to get our job done? Then here’s a treat. If you think that they’re useless in this day and age, then you’re absolutely right, but if you think outside of their normal usage then you might get something out of this ancient PC component.

Take this Polish guy that goes by the handle Silent. By using two floppy drives, and an ATMega microcontroller to control the internal motor of the drives, Silent was able to reproduce the famous Star Wars theme using the drive duo. Never imagined that you can actually get a melody from those very mechanical sounds back in the day. View the full video below and may the force be with you.
