YouTube Movies bring 3000 more titles from Sony Pictures, NBC Universal & Warner Bros.

Looks like YouTube will not only be the home for home-made videos and stars, it might also be the new home for Hollywood as well. In a company blog post, YouTube chief Salar Kamanger stated that the sites’ movie rental service will add an additional 3,000 movies. While the site’s movie rental service has been up and running for a year now, it hasn’t got as much steam as they expected due to their selection, mainly involving indie films.

And on a related note, news is that Google has now teamed up with Sony Pictures, NBC Universal and Warner Bros. to bring in those 3,000 movies onto your favorite streaming video service. The new titles are being added starting today and will go on through the week. They include some of the recently released flicks like “Inception”, “The King’s Speech”, “Little Fockers”, “The Green Hornet”, and “Despicable Me.” Rentals will cost the usual $4 though newer releases will cost you an additional dollar. A. YouTube supports video in up to 4k resolution, however, it is up to our partners to specify what video quality they provide. Most movies for rent will be available in standard definition.
