Apple files a lawsuit to Samsung for copying the iPhone/iPad

This is one lawsuit that has definitely caught our attention. The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple has filed a lawsuit against Samsung for allegedly copying the iPhone and iPad and applying its ‘style’ to their own consumer electronics. The devices in question here include the Galaxy S 4G, having strikingly similar features with the iPhone 3G/3GS; and to a lesser extent, the Nexus S and the Galaxy Tab.

Apple filed the lawsuit last Friday on the Norther California District court and seeks to prove that Samsung’s ‘plagiarism’ of the look and feel of the said devices were intentional. This also includes the software apart from the hardware infringement as the UI from both devices are also similarly looking. With this, are we seeing another lawsuit against Google? We’ll have to wait for that update, but in the meantime, here’s an excerpt from Apple’s infringement claim.

“Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products.”
