After conducting market research which showed that Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Radeon/FirePro brand are familiar to consumer and strong enough to stand on their own, the company has decided to kill its ATI brand name. Then, specifically we’re now relieve on how to squeeze the AMD, ATI and Radeon brand name on a single GPU write ups, isn’t that awesome?
Back in 2006, AMD acquired graphics chip manufacturer ATI for $5.4 billion, then that was the biggest acquisitions that time in the semiconductor industry, accordingly ATI was renamed to AMD Graphics Product Group. However, AMD wasn’t able to discard the ATI brand with its known stand on the market, not to mention, the hyped rivalry from Nvidia.
Current products will be renamed to AMD Radeon, but the pioneer GPU is still set to unveil later this year.
