Major US carriers to sell Samsung Galaxy Tab on holidays

Apple’s iPad may be in for one tough holiday season as Samsung just announced that its Galaxy Tab, branded as a direct competition for the former, will be released by Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile during the yuletides. The Android-powered device is lighter and smaller than the iPad at 7 inches but does everything that the Apple product does like reading e-books, mobile surfing and others. More after the jump.

The tablet is set to arrive just in time for the year-end Christmas shopping season although no price tags has been stamped on it. The Galaxy Tab is very portable at half an inches thick, aforementioned 7 inch display and weighs 13 ounces. It will feature a 1,024 x 600 WSVGA resolution display and US versions of the tablet will come with the same 1.3 megapixel front- and rear-facing cameras perfect for your voice and video telephony needs.
Additional content for the Galaxy Tab can be downloaded from the Samsung Media Hub, it’s pretty much their version of iTunes specifically for video where you can buy/rent shows, movies and others. Speaking of movies, the battery life of this tablet can reach 7 hours on video playback, so that’s around 3 movies in one sitting. It will also have Flash support, something you cannot get from the iPad.
