Skype 2.0 with 3G hits iPhone, not free after August
Though the great thing with Skype is its “free” and we wish for more upgrades right? After all the waiting, finally Skype 2.0 for iPhone has arrived which stakes some of our wished features but unfortunately including a “small monthly fee” after August.

While we are disappointed with Skype 2.0’s fee, hey, it’s summer and vacation your iPhone can blow up for free Skype-to-Skype calls for three months. Meanwhile here are the list of updates for Skype 2.0:

  • Call using your 3G connection. Skype-to-Skype calls on 3G are free until at least end of August 2010, after which there will be a small monthly fee (operator charges for data will still apply).
  • Near CD-quality sound for Skype-to-Skype calls using wideband audio (SILK codec) on iPhone 3GS and 2nd generation iPod touch.
  • Enhanced call quality indicator.
  • Improved start-up time.
  • Fast access to the dial pad from iPhone home screen.
