Opera have announced that its Opera Mini browser has been approved for inclusion in Apple’s App Store and now available. There has been doubts that the app would be approved since it will directly compete with Safari browser that has been included in the iPhone and iTouch.
Opera Mini, with more than 50 million users worldwide, enables fast mobile Web browsing by compressing data by up to 90 percent before sending content to the device, resulting in significantly improved page loading. Users of the app will notice an uptake in speed, especially on slower networks such as the 2G Edge network. Surfing the Web with the Opera Mini App on iPhone and iPod touch will also help users save money because of its data compression capabilities. This will hold especially true while the user is incurring roaming charges.
Opera browser app has been submitted late last month for Apple’s review approval. This has been a positive thing for Opera since there has been a major increase on peoples browsing via their mobile phone browsers. You can grab the Opera Mini app in the App Store via this iTunes link.
Update:
The Opera Mini App for iPhone hit its milestone in the first day with a million downloaded app on the App Store. This was not achieve by Skype for iPhone (2 days) and Paypal App (3 weeks) to reach the 1 millionth downloads.
