Sony PlayStation Phone in development to rival Apple

It was long rumored that Sony Playstation phone was on development to rival iPhone and iTouch. WSJ reports that “Sony Corp. is developing a new lineup of handheld products, including a smart phone capable of downloading and playing videogames, according to people familiar with the matter.” This new gadgets from the Japanese manufacturer is set to be a direct aimed to assault Apple’s product line including near-to-release iPad.

Accordingly iPad is no exception on the Sony’s competition list, with Sony developing a portable device that shares characteristics of netbooks, electronic-book readers and handheld-game machines claimed by the source. The new products are expected to work with Sony’s new online media platform that was due later this month. Sony’s online service will work same as the Apple iTunes with a notable difference that the service will be available for range of devices not just the phone to access its contents. This could be a full-pack integration hub for Sony products sharing same game apps. The source also added that the games are mostly older games compatible with the original PlayStation.

Sony PlayStation phone is expected to hit later this year, as the company is actively working with Sony Ericsson for the handset development. Major details about the devices are still in secrecy including the release date and prices.

The competition are really getting crowded on such same devices and if this a direct assault for Apple watch out Sony for your technology cause you might get sued for infringement like what HTC and Nokia who were Apple’s deep competitors.
