This past month of November has been a history in the making for Nintendo for both Wii and DS. Nintendo Wii consoles had another record month selling 2 million units in the United States and the Nintendo DS with 1.56 million units both for the month of November. This is a new Nintendo Wii and DS sales record for a non-December month.
Besides, four games made for Nintendo systems placed in the top 10 US best-sellers for November. These included Wii Play at No. 3 with more than 796,000 sold, Wii Fit at No. 4 with more than 697,000 sold, Mario Kart Wii at No. 5 with nearly 637,000 sold and Wii Music placed at No. 9 with more than 297,000 sold, following its long-tail trend. The Nintendo US Sales numbers are based on the numbers of NPD Group.
The Wii was in stock during November and was rather easy to get. For December the situation looks not that bright and retailers like online Walmart and Amazon are sold out again most of the time plus a rumor on BestBuy for hoarding Wii units for the later part of this month pre-empting this season. So good choice to those who buy early!
