Intel‘s refreshed Haswell Core i7-4790 which is also known with the codename “Devil’s Canyon” has been made even powerful notably to hit 4.0GHz up to 4.4GHz in turbo mode.
And this is the first time we’ve seen Intel processor to surpass base clock speed of 4GHz, however, other chips have gone on this territory already.
The great base clock speed equates to slight increase in wattage that goes from 84W to 88W. But, Intel’s have used a better thermal material underneath the lid of the processor to improve this number.
Now if you’re planning on upgrading or buying a new processor, it’ll be wiser to wait a little until the Canyon’s Devil procs becomes available, as it’ll purchase for $339 which is the current price of Core i7-4770K that is just clocked at 3.5GHz.
In addition, there’s also a Core i5-4690K processor that is refreshed to be faster by 100GHz from its previous model and with price tag of $242. So it’s not just Broadwell all-the-way for Intel.
