Verizon iPhone 4 gets the mandatory teardown, reveals a Qualcomm MDM6600 chip

As the Verizon iPhone 4 is being shipped at the moment, it won’t belong before someone does the usual teardown to see the differences it has with your regular unit. Although it is pretty much known how Big Red’s version would differ, the guys at ifixit found some more. For starters, this iPhone 4 has a bigger battery although still has the same capacity, its vibrator unit has been nudged to the bottom left of the phone from the upper right. But a particular change found was that this version has a Qualcomm MDM6600 chip built in. This allows the smartphone to support HSPA+ as well as to accommodate data rates reaching 14.4 Mbps. That gives instant GSM + CDMA support for the Verizon iPhone. For the detailed teardown, click here.
