The Android which we saw an impressive progress jumping from 3.9 percent from 2008 record of 0.5 percent share still goes under Windows Mobile (drops 3.1 percent) and Linux (2.9 percent). While Palm WebOS mark 0.7 percent on the sales chart.
So when we summarized everything it will show the Apple’s iPhone get the biggest gain (6.2 percent) followed by Android (3.4 percent) and Blackberry (3.3 percent). Meanwhile, Symbian lost the most with 5.5 percent down followed by Windows Mobile (3.1 percent) and Linux (2.9 percent).
According to Gartner, there is a total of 1.2 billion mobile phones are sold last year, 172 million here are smartphones (14 percent) which is up from 11 percent in 2008 record. Although the iPhone almost doubled its sales it is just 2 percent of the total mobile phone sales last year. Here are the tabulated results from Gartner:
